Press Release: OpenCrypt 2.0 in Development!
Wednesday 30th April 2008

OpenCrypt was only released two years ago, but in that short time the software has evolved significantly. Whilst the current system is unmatched for features by its competitors, we're still not satisfied. The addition of add-ons such as the picture gallery and helpdesk, and advancement of features such as the multi-domain support and multi-subscriptions support have left us wanting more. Whilst we could persist with the current system we feel the framework is not ideal for our plans, as a result we have begun re-developing the entire OpenCrypt system.
The new system aims to address key new features and requirements, such as fluid multi-domain support (across multiple servers*) and a significantly improved registration form and product purchasing system. The new system is written entirely in PHP, rather than a mix of PHP and Perl, for simpler integration. We will also be reducing our reliance of mySQL and will offer support for various alternative database systems including PostgreSQL, as well as looking to better serve customers using the Windows and IIS platforms.
Software Features and Benefits:
- Highly scalable registration form; any field type, unlimited pages, customisable templates, minimal constraints and limitless possibilities.

- Page designer; WYSIWYG page designer allowing you to select and edit text elements and drag-and-drop content items to re-structure the layout of the software output.

- Multi-currency, multi-language and multi-domain support, full TAX integration (with custom conditions), real-time shipping calculation and pricing, automated address lookup for UK, US and Canadian addresses*, live currency exchange* and automated user profiling*.

- Advanced user tracking and web site statistics with user profiling* and geographic data*. See where your visitors are coming from and who they are based on public data feeds*.

- Fully featured online shopping systems including automated user billing and invoicing, supporting recurring fee products with automated file delivery, product specific TAX, weighting and inventory levels, and advanced WYSIWYG shop designer.

- Improved products and subscriptions engine allowing users to maintain multiple subscriptions at one-time, including the option to consolidate payments. Automated pricing adjustments for recurring fees with different renewal durations, necessary for automating renewal payments. We are also developing a master/sub user system enabling certain users to have control over other accounts, for example organisations would be able to create sub-accounts for individual employees.

- Advanced payment integration including PayPal and Authorize.net, with a new payments API for quick integration with other payment processors. Payment integration also offers intensive transaction logging, ensuring you are aware of all actions taken by the system, and are able to resolve problematic transactions effortlessly. When available, the system will automate transaction renewal and cancellation.

- Modern software framework design allowing for quick and easy expansion of the software. Integrated data-engine allows for complex forms to be created in a matter of minutes using the same engine as the registration form.
* - Additional fees apply.
We hope to have a beta of OpenCrypt version 2.0 available within three months, a stable release won't be released for at least six months. Due to the increasing popularity of OpenCrypt the stable release will be sent for intensive security testing and evaluation by third-party security organisations. This is being done to ensure we are developing the most secure and stable system possible which will not be susceptible to the usual PHP security concerns which have affected many of our competitors.
OpenCrypt version 1.6 (advancing from the current system, v1.5) will be released before version 2.0 and will stand as the final version 1.x, this version will offer improved multi-domain support, secondary/backup database support and Barclays ePDQ payment integration. The picture gallery add-on also benefits from new features including product options and secure image galleries.
