For users with high-demand installations of OpenCrypt, we offer a range of remote backup services to help you maintain a constant and un-disrupted membership service.
 
Software backups are made automatically by our servers on a scheduled basis, backups include all user data, all mySQL database data and your OpenCrypt system configuration data. Data and configurations can be restored from your backups archive automatically using your OpenCrypt software, and can be imported into a new installation for instant set-up enabling seamless transfer between services.

Software backups are limited to 250Mb which is over three million database records, an OpenCrypt installation with 250,000 users can run un-consolidated for over a year without building a database this large. For larger databases please contact us for pricing.

Web Site Backup

We also offer a range of web site backup services which can be customised to suit your individual web site or network of sites. The system can be customised to backup any data on your web site or in your mySQL databases and the system can be fine-tuned to only backup the data most critical to your system.

Restoration

Remote Backup Restoration This interface is part of the OpenCrypt administration panel, it shows the local backups at the top of the page which are generated by the OpenCrypt software. Below the local backups you will see the remote backups, this list of is backups is fetched from the OpenCrypt backup server and simply by selecting 'Restore', the entire OpenCrypt installation and web site can be restored. A list of backups which are currently archived is available on our web site via the Remote Backup section of my.OpenCrypt (under your licensed account) and are also available in your OpenCrypt administration panel which includes a restoration tool for automatically restoring your system or web site from an archived backup. The system enables you to restore from any backup you have archived.

Service Information

Backups are made between approximately 10pm and 12pm EST. All backups are stored on our backup server which is hosted by ServINT (an extremely reputable server provider) in Virginia, USA. During 2007 and 2008 the OpenCrypt servers have had a 99.99% uptime with less than 0.01% downtime for scheduled upgrades.
 
Backups are generated on your server as a TAR archive file (similar to a ZIP file) which is then transferred to our backup server, this is managed automatically by our backup software. The process is provoked by our server which provides a secret authentication key, this is used along with various other checks to ensure only our backup server can provoke a backup and retrieve data from your system.
